Activities & Clubs
High Plains has offered our students a number of extracurricular opportunities for the past school years. We will have a mix of free and fee-based programs to enhance your student's educational experience.
Please note that you can only sign up for ONE club per day. Please note there is a limited number of spots available per club. It is first come first serve.
MONDAYS
Choir
Grades: 4th – 5th Time: 2:45 – 3:45 pm LAST DATE: May 4
In choir we learn songs to sing and perform for an audience. This semester, we will be incorporating classroom instruments into our concert, too. It is a fun time learning musical skills and creating music together.
Mindfulness & Movement Club

Sticky Fingers Cooking Club
Grades: K – 3rd Time: 2:45 - 3:45 pm LAST DATE: May 4
Sticky Fingers Cooking offers young chefs the chance to explore exciting tastes (all seasonal and as local as possible), master culinary skills (that they can use in family kitchens) and nourish their bodies and minds. We provide all the tools, ingredients and instruction needed to cook up a fun, delicious and healthy after-school snack each week. Sticky Fingers Cooking is 100% nut free and CAN and WILL accommodate ANY and ALL food allergies.

Art Club

In Art Club, students will experiment with various art mediums including: painting, fiber arts, tie-dye, ceramics, and more. Students will participate in a visiting artist workshop with Cal Duran: Meow Wolf contributing artist, art educator, and sculptor. Students will bring home art as they finish it unless they would like it displayed in our hallways. Let the fun begin!
Beginning Orchestra
Grades: 4th – 5th Time: 2:45 – 3:45 pm LAST DATE: Apr 28
Colorado Music Institute provides music education for students of all ages and experience levels on nearly every instrument. Beginning band students can start on violin, viola, or cello. Students will learn how to play their instruments, read music, understand music theory, and perform in concerts. This class will focus on having fun and building confidence while students learn their new instruments!
Musical Theater

This spring is a great time for musical theater! Students will take to the stage and learn the arts of acting, singing, and dancing!
STEM Discovery using LEGO

Unleash your creativity with tens of thousands of LEGO® pieces at your fingertips! Build engineer-designed projects as you discover the world around us through our inquiry-based learning model. Projects are rotated seasonally to ensure that both new and returning students can explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system.

Beginning Band

Students will learn how to play their instruments, read music, understand music theory, and perform in concerts. This class will focus on having fun and building confidence while students learn their new instruments!
Glam Dance

This high energy dance class will go in depth with hip-hop training, including the latest dance trends and break-dancing moves. This class is great for the student who just wants to come and get funky as well as the serious dancer looking to improve their hip hop skills. We will have a show to finish the dance session in December!
Little Coders: Minecraft Modding
Grades: K – 2nd Time: 1:50 - 2:50 pm LAST DATE: Apr 22
Unleash your creativity while customizing your beloved game, Minecraft! In this course, students will learn fundamental coding concepts like Sequence and Loops. They'll apply these skills to create exciting projects, such as building their own zoo, aquarium, dazzling diamond house, and even code a magic wand. Get ready to embark on a journey to code your very own Minecraft mods!
Spanish Club

Chess Wizards

Girl Scout Troop 68072
Grades: 3rd Time: 2:45 – 4:15 pm LAST MEETING: Apr 24
We are welcoming 3rd grade girls to join our Brownie Troop, #68072! We will be meeting one Friday a month at High Plains. A limited number of spaces for new members are available. We will be hosting a meeting for interested families on Friday, September 26 at 3pm in the school library. Running Club Mornings
Grades: 2nd - 5th Time: 7:10 – 7:45ish am Dates: Mar 27- Apr 24
If your child loves to run this is the club for them! Running club is club that meets before school to encourage students to run/walk as many laps around the track as possible in the time given. We meet in the gym and make our way up to run around the track.
